Power Up Season 2: News

We're going to have some raffle for the swimmers and their coaches. The rule is to pre-register with us and claim their registration kits during the competition day. That easy. Prices at stake are fins, some tees, and others. We might have a cell phone for our grand price. Thanks to smart.

Season 1 Results

The Season 1 was a success. There were over 400 swimmers in the competition and most, if not all, had fun. The results are out but I couldn't upload it nicely hear. It seems to get jumbled up each time I attempt to either attach or copy it onto this site. Anyway, I've sent them to the coaches of the teams. In case you don't receive it, do email me with the following details: Your name, your team's name, your phone number (both landline and mobile) and your email address.

We are currently working on getting the invitation for the season 2 out by Saturday, Sept. 13. If you'd like to join, drop me a comment here with the same details as above. Oh, and do add a digital team pic so I can include your team in the next souvenir program.

ATTENTION COACHES

I need a digital copy of your team for the souvenir program. The deadline is on wednesday, August 27. thanks.

Fund Raising Update - Good News For Us

We now have 280 registered participants for the competition and are thus 20 persons short of our target. With 2 weeks to go, it is likely that we will surpass what we are aiming for - a big round of applause for the whole team.

I am pleased to inform you that our solicitation efforts too are doing quite well for this first event that we are hosting. I along with Tita Mags Espiridion, Tita Jane Datu and Tita Ruby Leyva, my ever loyal and trusted deputy, will be paying a visit to 2 sponsors this week - Finis and Globe. let's pray that we can have them participate.

The Heat is Definitely On!

As we move closer to "D day", everyone gets jittery and panicky except for maybe our president Gutch who is forever calm and cool. Anyway, the panic and the chaos all spring from our (mostly mine, really) concern for issues which we would like to address right away. Top of the list is the number of competitors joining the event. But, as of 7 pm tonight, I had been told that we already have 253 participants. We have 2 weeks to go and are waiting for at least 3 more teams to send in their entries. So far, we've been getting good remarks from people who learn about this. God is good.

I just wish we'd be able to get more sponsors. But, as our dear president said, we move with or without the sponsors. When you're tired from preparing and get that kind of support, wouldn't your efforts be worth it?

Swimmer Competitor Count

As of today, there are at least 200 swimmer-competitors who have enlisted themselves for the competition while about 175 of these swimmers have paid their registration fee. With 2 more weeks to go before the big event, the organizers are expecting more registration forms to fly over at the ULTRA. According to the coaches, the competition is really good for the swimmers who are not given the opportunity to compete because they are "not well trained" yet.

Our contention is that if we do not allow and give the children enough exposure, they will not be able to build confidence in their skill. What's worse is when we allow them to compete against other swimmers who are not of the same level as they are in, they're bound to lose interest to pursue the sport.

However, in this competition, we want to let the children compete and enjoy competing. As one of the parents of the swimmers, I'd be happy just to see my daughter compete. She would love to do so too because she knows that she's benchmarked according to her own level.
The Classified B, C & D Age Group Swimming Invitational Competition Short Course Season 1 is the first competition hosted and organized by the Pasig Flying Dolphins Swim Team. It is set for September 6, 2008, 8:00 a.m. and will be held at the ULTRA Swimming Pool.

As of August 25, 2008 there the tally has already reached 280 participants enlisted for the event. A Technical Committee and a Grievance Committee composed of professional swim coaches from the different teams have been formed in order to ensure a fair and orderly competition. The secretariat and members of the different committees that make up the organizing team are composed of family-oriented professionals who are also the parents of the swimmers. All concerns, issues and plans are discussed and delegated to those who can address them appropriately. Thus, joining or dealing with the team gives you a professional yet friendly experience.
